SOME OF MY FAVOURITE WEDDING VENUES IN NORTHUMBERLAND

Tucked up in the far north of England, Northumberland is one of those places that just feels a little bit special. While it’s known for its castles, there’s so much more to it than that. You’ve got miles of unspoilt coastline, the quiet presence of Hadrian’s Wall weaving through the landscape, and some of the darkest, clearest skies in Europe. Closer to the Tyne Valley, things soften into rolling countryside, pretty villages and that lovely mix of rural calm with everything still within easy reach. Altogether, it’s the kind of setting that gives you space to slow down—which is exactly what makes it such a good fit for a wedding.

Below is a snapshot of some of my personal favourites, but this barely scratches the surface of what's available.

HALLINGTON MILL

Hallington Mill feels like the kind of place that’s made for couples who want to do things their own way. Tucked away in the Tyne Valley, it has an almost secret and hidden feel to it. Less of a wedding venue in the traditional sense and more of a space you can properly make your own. The setting is relaxed and full of character, with stone buildings barns and greenery giving you a beautiful backdrop without ever overpowering things. What stands out most is how personal it can feel; it really lends itself to thoughtful considered celebrations where the focus is on what matters to you rather than following a set formula. It’s ideal if you’re after something a bit different somewhere that reflects your personalities and lets your day unfold in a way that feels completely your own.

HALTON GROVE

Halton Grove also has that tucked away feel where everything slows down as soon as you arrive. Set in the Tyne Valley countryside, it feels peaceful and private, with beautifully restored architecture and considered interior design that gives the venue real character without ever feeling overdone.

It also offers plenty of flexibility, with multiple indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces so you can shape your day around your style, the season and the weather. It works really well for couples who want choice without complication.

Overall, it has a calm, personal feel to it, where the setting supports your day rather than defining it, and you can really make it your own.

I have worked in the design and creative industry for over 15 years, both in the UK and overseas in Hong Kong. Not only am I expericenced in floral design, but also interior design, graphic design and textiles.

I believe this varied background helps me to create epic floral designs rich in colour, texture, composition and interest.

When I'm not busy creating beautiful flowers, I'll either be out in the countryside walking my rescue dog Willow, tinkering away at new graphic designs for wedding stationery ( yes I do that too!) or conjuring up culinary delights in the kitchen with my husband whilst sipping a large glass of wine!
